2023: Establishment of GPPS

• Create Grande Prairie Police Commission
• Create Policies & Procedures
• Recruit Chief of Police
• GPPS & RCMP share policing responsibilities during entire transition

2024: First Officers Deployed

• First and second Experienced Officer Program classes graduate
• First Recruit class of 12 underway
• Total of 31 Peace Officers deployed

2025: Expansion Continues

• Third, fourth, and fifth Experienced Officer Program classes graduate
• First recruit class of 12 and second recruit class of 14 graduate, third recruit class of 10 underway
• Total of 31 Peace Officers deployed

2026: Policing Fully Transitioned to GPPS

• GPPS becomes Police of Primary Jurisdiction for the City of Grande Prairie
• Sixth, seventh, and eighth Experienced Officer Program classes graduate
• Third recruit class of 10 and fourth recruit class graduate
• Total of 31 Peace officers deployed

2027: GPPS Reaches Full Capacity

• Fifth recruit class of 14 graduates
• 31 Peace Officers deployed
